The European Cold Storage and Logistics Association (ECSLA) is the voice of the European cold storage industry.

The ECSLA mission is to represent the cold logistics companies interests, at the level of European and international institutions, in order to contribute to the development of a legislative and economic framework addressing the competitiveness of industry, food quality and safety, consumer protection and respect for the environment.

ECSLA represents a large majority of refrigerated storage facilities throughout the EU, close to 45 million cubic meters.

The permanent secretariat of the ECSLA co-ordinates the work of experts, grouped in Committees and Expert Groups around the following four themes:

  • Food and feed safety
  • Environment
  • Energy
  • Refrigerated transport and logistics

On the 4 July 2009, the EU Regulation on F Gases will require Member States to ensure that only companies with duly certified technicians can purchase fluorinated gases for refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pump installations.

In the first quarter of 2009, ECSLA has welcomed 5 New Members : Mayekawa, the British Frozen Food Federation, the Associazione Italiana Industrie di Prodotti Alimentari, the French Union of Frozen Food Importers (SNCE) and the French Union of Frozen Food Producers (surgelés-glaces).
